It has been 7 years this past march and may since i took my first two National Outdoor Leadership School courses. i went for a semester in New Zealand but it was booked months in advance. so i decided on the March 05' Baja sea kayaking off the Sea of Cortez on the east side of Baja. we kayaked a 188 kilometers up the coast from Loreto into the Bahia de Concepcion where the NOLS Baja branch is located.

following march, in May of 05' i went into the Himalayas on a hiking course that topped out an elevation of 15,000 ft while making a saddle crossing into the next valley. (seen below)

On reflecting on the trips recently, its amazing in some ways how it got me here, now, at RDI in Bolinas and on the path of Permaculture. the people i met, and the consequences, happen stance, and larger then thought influence of said Universe set in motion a certain path of learning and exploration.

hope you enjoy these photos. i know i still do, and have barely forgot them. the Baja photos are actually film, taken with a small 120mm medium format camera i carried with me and a magnetic light meter. figured boats and ocean were not conducive to electronics... but i figured a Nikon d70 up in the Himalaya mountains of India better. funny thinking. but well worth it.
